Graduated (MSc) in 1987 as a Mining Engineer (cum laude) at Politecnico di Torino. Professor of “Tunnel Construction” at Politecnico di Torino, Faculty of Engineering. Director of the Post-graduate Master Course on “Tunnelling and Tunnel Boring Machines” endorsed by ITA-AITES. Director of the Laboratory “Tunnelling and Underground Space” at Politecnico di Torino.

Invited speaker at: Technical University of Petrosani (Romania), University of Innsbruck, Istanbul Technical University, ETH (Zurich, CH), Technical University of Athens, Colorado School of Mines, University of Warsaw, INSA Lyon, Queen’s University (Kinston, Canada) and in the Universities of Rome, Florence, Udine and Palermo.

Organiser and/or lecturer for many ITA Training Courses. Former Vice president of ITA Executive Council and member of the Board of the Italian Tunnelling Association.

Editor of Tunnelling and Underground Space Technology and of the Italian Journal “Environmental and Mining Geo-engineering”

Engineer specialised in tunnelling (conventional and mechanized), EPB soil conditioning, mining, rock engineering, soil and rock improvement and rock-fall protection techniques and responsible for many university research projects in these sectors.

Author of more than 200 scientific papers published in journals and in the proceedings of international congresses.
