The Council of the Foundation met early June in the Politecnico di Torino where I was very pleased to meet the Rector Francesco Profumo. The Rector showed his great interest in the activities of the Foundation; he offered to develop the cooperation for Post-doctoral programme; he also offered to the Foundation an office in the “linguotto”, the new part of the Politecnico.
During this meeting, the Council decided about the programme for the year starting in July; more than 20 Training actions are under preparation throughout the world in Asia, Europe, Middle East, South America,…
The Council also decided to sponsor the participation of young engineers to the postgraduated Master courses in Lausanne, Lyon and Torino as well as the organization of Training Sessions in developing countries, Cambodia and Nepal for example.
I am sure this year will constitute a milestone in the development of the Foundation and I call all interested Institutions and Companies to indicate their interest to the Foundation and to contribute financially to its development.

May 20 – 21, 2011 At the occasion of the ITA-AITES World tunnel congress in Helsinki, ITA-AITES and the ITACET Foundation, together with the Finnish Tunnelling association and four ITA sponsors, namely BASF-Meyco, Mapei- UTT, Normet and VSH Hagerbach Test Gallery Ltd. organized a very fruitful two days training session aimed at young professionals of the tunneling industry.

The AFTES International Congress will take place at the Cité Internationale in Lyon from 17 to 19 October 2011.
